Eligibility

Open to all artists, 18 years of age or older, residing in Colorado.  CWS members who have moved out of state and maintain membership may enter.

Entry Requirements 

Paintings must be predominantly water media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein or tempera) on paper or synthetic paper, (no canvas) completed within the last two years starting January 1 two years previous to present and not previously shown in a juried exhibit in Colorado.  Artist's original work only.  No copies or likenesses of another artist's work.  No copies or partial copies of any published source whether copyrighted or not.  No copies of any published material on the internet, magazines, or newspapers.  Use of photos as a reference must be your own taken by yourself.  No use of other people's photo's even if given permission because it is their vision, not yours.  No work done in a class or workshop or under direction of anyone but yourself.  Any collage material must be produced by yourself.  No computer generated or digital art will be accepted.  Original as defined in the Oxford Dictionary: existing from the first, earliest, being a thing from which a copy or translation has been made, firsthand, not imitative, new in character and design.  Anything other than original is plagiarism. 

Agreement / Rules Read Carefully

The artist's signature should appear on the front of the painting.  CWS reserves the right to refuse any painting that does not comply with the requirements stated in this Call for Entry or does not match the submitted image.  Failure to comply with requirements and rules to meet any of the conditions may result in disqualification of your entry and ineligibility to enter future CWS exhibits for a minimum of two years and a rescinding of any award.  If selected by juror for show, you agree to grant permission to reproduce image for publicity or educational purposes.  If your work is accepted and you withdraw, or it does not meet any requirements stipulated you will be disqualified and may not enter a show for two years. Presentation

Minimum image size 8 X 10 inches.  Maximum image size 15 x 22 inches.  All works must be delivered framed and ready to hang. Framing must meet gallery quality standards.  Frames must be suitable to the work and the exhibit, must be undamaged and reinforced with hardware and picture wire in place.  No sawtooth hangers. 

 
All works must be matted in clean white or off-white mats. No exceptions.  Colored liners or fillets may not be larger than ¼”.  ALL paintings must be under Plexiglas. Paintings delivered with chipped, cracked, damaged, dirty or improper presentation will be returned at the artist’s expense.  For a list of suggested mat colors, click HERE.

Image Instructions

Digital image files must conform to the following requirements:  Images should be cropped so that only the painting image shows and only that part of the painting that will show when the painting is matted. No mats, hands, background, edges, etc. should be visible in the entry image.

File format: .jpg files (no exceptions). The resolution must be 300 dpi.  Submissions must be under 4mb and a minimum dimension of 540px and a maximum dimension of 1920px on the longest side.  ArtCall will permanently resize submissions in 3 separate sizes (regardless of the original size): 100px, 1080px and maximum saved dimension setting (1920 by default.)

Delivery and Pickup

Instructions for delivery or shipping will be provided with notification of acceptance.

Sales of Artwork

All entries must be for sale.  No price changes will be accepted. A 50% commission will be charged on all sales. Price your paintings accordingly.
